Separator elements are used as a second stage in coalescing filters / water separators. After the coalescing stage, the aviation fuels pass the pores of the separator element while the water droplets are repelled by the hydrophobic surface of the separator. Water droplets settle on the water separator filter / sump to be drained. FAUDI Aviation 60-Type separators are available with a Teflon® coated screen or synthetic mesh. Separator elements with a Teflon® coated screen can be reused after cleaning during coalescing element changes. Small damaged areas can be repaired. It is recommended that spacer elements with synthetic mesh be replaced during the change of coalescing elements.
